GZA’s Muriel Robinette Elected Chair of the New Hampshire Board of Professional Geologists

BEDFORD, N.H., and NORWOOD, Mass., October 26, 2018 – GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading multi-disciplinary firm providing geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water, and construction management services, is pleased to announce that Muriel S. Robinette, a Senior Consultant in GZA’s Bedford, New Hampshire office, has been elected to chair the New Hampshire Board of Professional Geologists for a two-year term.

Ms. Robinette was initially nominated to serve on the Board by Governor John Lynch in 2012 and was reappointed in 2017 by Governor John Sununu. In her new role, her duties will be to call and run board meetings; evaluate professional applications for the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) Professional Practices exam; evaluate candidates for reciprocity licensing; provide input into licensing rule updates; facilitate the Board’s response to any claims against licensees; coordinate NH’s practices with ASBOG; and confirm new licenses to new practitioners.

Ms. Robinette said: “I am honored to be chairing the New Hampshire Board of Professional Geologists for the next two years. I look forward to fulfilling the Board’s purpose of safeguarding the public in NH from any unprofessional actions of our licensees.”

At GZA, Ms. Robinette uses her extensive experience in designing and implementing forensic field studies to evaluate contaminant impacts to the environment, develop technical strategies and manage complex hazardous waste permitting, remediation and redevelopment projects. Ms. Robinette is also currently designing and building a mentorship program for young women through the New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) program and teaching GZA practitioners litigation support skills and forensic techniques. 

Ms. Robinette has also served as a water quality testing volunteer on Lake Winnipesaukee for UNH Lay Lakes Monitoring Program for the past 20 years along with her husband, Michael, also a hydrogeologist; Conservation Easement monitor for Lakes Region Conservation Commission and the Five Rivers Conservation Commission. She is a board member for NEWIEE; and a member of the New England Environmental Business Council’s (EBC) New Hampshire Leadership Committee.

Ms. Robinette completed Ph.D. studies in Mining Engineering from the University of Idaho, holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering (Groundwater) from Washington State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from the University of New Hampshire. Ms. Robinette is a licensed professional geologist in Maine and New York in addition to New Hampshire.
