GZA’s landscape architects specialize in creating vibrant outdoor spaces where people can connect with nature and community. The landscape architects at GZA collaborate on a daily basis with ecologists, engineers, scientists, and permitting specialists, allowing us to provide achievable design solutions on complex sites. As part of GZA’s Design with Nature Studio, we contribute creative, human-focused designs to projects that use nature’s tools to build resilience and enhance biodiversity.
The landscape architect’s at GZA have experience with master planning, ecological analysis, park and garden design, urban design, ecological restoration, outdoor learning and living laboratories, nature-based solutions and green infrastructure, visualization and graphic renderings, and construction services.

As in nature, all elements are linked. Our Whole Systems Thinking approach considers links between biotic, abiotic, and indoor/outdoor relationships. Looking at the existing landscape as one system and how each element interacts and supports one another, GZA’s landscape architects are able to provide landscape designs that are resilient, healthy, and educational.
Our work with public spaces, streetscapes and plazas, harbors and marinas, ecological restoration sites, playgrounds, trails, and boardwalks combine sustainability with everyday use. We collaborate with engineers on projects combining infrastructure with ecological restoration and public access; we work with communities to develop visions for healthier neighborhoods, and we work with governmental agencies to support resilient planning efforts. Within the Design with Nature Studio, the landscape architecture group is on the forefront of using innovative and nature-based solutions to help resolve environmental issues. Working closely with architects and civil engineers, we support sustainable stormwater management through green infrastructure, resilient land planning, beautification through ecological restoration, and nature-based learning through Whole Systems Thinking.
