GZA’s Bill Hover selected for top Boston Society of Civil Engineers honor

GZA announced today that William Hover, P.E., a retired Senior Principal and nationally leading dam engineer, has been selected for the Boston Society of Civil Engineers’ top honor.
Hover will be named a lifetime “Honorary Member” of the society, officially known as the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), at the BSCES’ 175th Annual Awards Dinner to be held on Thursday, June 27. Only two individuals per year are named as Honorary Members of BSCES.
GZA President and CEO Patrick Sheehan said: “On behalf of all his colleagues at GZA, I want to congratulate Bill on receiving this very prestigious award from BSCES. Among his many accomplishments as an engineer, everyone in Greater Boston, New York City, Metropolitan Hartford, and many other communities where Bill has worked can thank him for helping assure they have safe, reliable municipal water supplies.”
During his 42-year career at GZA, Hover developed and led a nationally recognized Dams and Water Resources practice, served as the Office Manager for the Metro Boston and Hartford, CT operations, served on GZA’s Board of Directors, and held the title of Corporate Director of Risk Management.
Receiving BSCES Honorary Member honors alongside Hover on June 27 will be Dr. Luciana Burdi, Intl. Assoc. AIA, CCM, MCPPO, NAC, Director of Capital Programs and Environmental Affairs for the Massachusetts Port Authority.
BSCES is the oldest engineering association in the United States and serves over 3,200 members across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Founded in 1848, BSCES is a member-based professional organization focusing on technical training, topical programs, and initiatives that support and benefit the civil engineering profession. BSCES focuses on advancing engineering knowledge by nurturing future engineers and advancing the professional growth of its members. It also advocates for long-term sustainable funding to address the maintenance and modernization of our infrastructure.
