GZA retained to support Philadelphia Navy Yard upgrades

GZA is providing support for multiple facilities upgrades at the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid Atlantic (NAVFAC MIDLANT) historic Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Working under Design-Build contracts at the Naval Foundry Propeller Center, GZA is providing extensive geotechnical engineering and construction support for upgrades and enhancements at 11 sites and three top-security buildings within the Navy Yard site used for manufacturing submarine propellers and related work.
GZA President and CEO Patrick Sheehan said: “GZA is honored to support NAVFAC MIDLANT in its mission of providing our U.S. Navy forces with the operating, expeditionary, support and training bases they need. These critically important upgrades to the Naval Foundry Propeller Center ensure our Navy extends its world-leading capabilities to design and manufacture advanced propulsion components.”
GZA is also monitoring completed foundation structures and environmental media for compliance with relevant construction discharge permits.
NAVFAC MIDLANT provides facilities engineering, public works and environmental products and services across an area of responsibility that spans from South Carolina to Maine, as far west as Michigan, and down to Indiana. As an integral member of the Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic team, NAVFAC MIDLANT provides leadership through the Regional Engineer organization to ensure the region’s facilities and infrastructure are managed efficiently and effectively.
