GZA has been selected by The Trust for Governors Island to serve as an on-call owner’s representative and engineering consultant for construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.

The 172-acre Governors Island, located in New York Harbor just minutes from Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn waterfront by ferry, is a popular and unique destination with an award-winning park complemented by dozens of historic buildings, year-round educational and cultural facilities, a rich art and culture program, and a 22-acre National Monument managed by the National Park Service. The Trust is a non-profit created by the City of New York that is responsible for the planning, operations, and ongoing development of the island to realize its full potential for the inspiration and enjoyment of all New Yorkers.

GZA President and CEO Patrick Sheehan said: “Governors Island is a treasure not only for all New Yorkers, but for visitors from throughout our nation and world. GZA is honored to serve The Trust for Governors Island in its mission of rehabilitating and upgrading the island’s parks and facilities to make it a year-round, dynamic and accessible venue and ‘living laboratory’ for environmental, ecological, and climate studies.”
