Aging Dams and the Importance of Infrastructure

As a long-time corporate member of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials, GZA has been aware of the looming crisis with our nation’s dams for years.  Every so often, a major and sometimes tragic event brings this issue into the larger consciousness, but it is really the day-to-day work of inspecting, assessing, and rehabilitating (and sometimes removing) these dams which will protect the public’s safety, our critical infrastructure, and our vulnerable ecosystems.  As climate change increases the risks of failure at many aging dams, funding for dam safety work is more critical than ever.
