Water Supply Engineering

Since our founding in 1964, GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) has been a recognized leader in geo-civil and environmental with a specialization in the areas of hydrogeology and water supply engineering where we have assisted municipal, commercial and industrial clients in New England with their diverse water needs.

Due to GZA’s broad experience with both water supply development and contaminant hydrogeology, GZA has considerable experience in the important aspects of providing safe water resources.  The protection strategies have addressed potential and actual impacts from local contaminant sources, as well as managing withdrawal rates to the safe yield of the aquifers.  GZA’s experience with a broad range of water resources issues allows us to understand not only how water is used for public supply purposes, but also how other uses compete with water supply for allocation of this scarce resource.

Managing surface and groundwater supplies has become an ever increasing challenge for both public and private water companies and developers.  GZA has been a regional leader in geo-civil and environmental consulting engineering.  Our specialization in the areas of hydrogeology and water supply engineering has assisted municipal, commercial and industrial clients in New England with their diverse water needs.  GZA has built upon our traditional hydrogeologic expertise in evaluating aquifer properties, identifying groundwater supply sources, groundwater modeling, and designing well pumping systems.  We have helped developers and municipalities with a wide-array of water supply engineering issues including:  new source approvals; population & water demand forecasting; water master planning; water main, pump station & storage tank design; protection strategies; managing withdrawal rates, and evaluating hydraulic efficiency/distribution system computer modeling.
