OAK BROOK, IL…ISSUED JUNE 30, 2016… GZA, a leading environmental and geotechnical engineering consulting firm, announces that James Novak has been promoted to Associate Principal in the Oak Brook, Illinois office.
Prior to joining GZA, Novak was with Huff & Huff for more than 19 years; GZA acquired the firm in 2014. He has more than 30 years of environmental analysis experience associated with a variety of transportation projects.
Novak specializes in wetlands, threatened and endangered species and NEPA studies for federal transportation projects.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from Northeastern Illinois University, where he also did postgraduate work in Geology and Earth Science.
A resident of Prairie Grove, Illinois, Novak is a Professional Wetland Scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists and is a Certified Wetland Specialist with McHenry and Kane Counties. He is an Illinois Department of Transportation Pre-Qualified Environmental Lead for NEPA Environmental Assessment and is Pre-Qualified at EIS Level for Wetlands, Ecology and Technical Writing.
Novak leads a biological team that conducts brown bag training sessions for GZA’s client base on wetlands, permitting, natural resources, NEPA and is also a trainer for the Lorman Professional Training Group for Wetlands/Natural Resources.
