GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. promotes David Smith to Senior Project Manager

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc., a leading environmental and geotechnical consulting firm, announces that David Smith of Merrimac, Massachusetts has been promoted to Senior Project Manager in the Water Services Group focusing on waterfront engineering projects at the Newburyport office.

Smith joined GZA in 2010 and has more than 22 years of engineering experience.  He has contributed to the survey, inspection, planning, permitting and design of waterfront projects throughout the Eastern United States, including bridges, urban ports and harbors, dredging projects, marinas, harbor walks, docks, parks, bulkheads, breakwaters and seawalls.  Smith works extensively with, and serves as primary contact for, several municipalities as well as private marinas.  

Based on his 22 years of working on waterfront projects Smith has a keen understanding of all aspects of implementing waterfront work.  His responsibilities have included field investigations, underwater inspection, hydrographic surveying, structural evaluations, permitting, design and construction services on literally hundreds of waterfront improvement projects.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell and Associate’s degrees in Engineering Science and Civil Technology from Northern Essex Community College.  

His industry memberships include: Boston Society of Civil Engineers; American Society of Civil Engineers; Granite State Designers and Installers Association; the Hydrographic Society of America; and the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association.
